So often we hear about 'being' rather than 'doing.' Often it's given as advice when we are overwhelmed, overworked and overstressed. 'You should just 'be.' You're doing too much.' Well, yes, obviously, but what does that MEAN? How do we just be? I happen to think the people saying this don't even really know what it means and are just giving it as a platitude, trying to help, but it doesn't help if you don't know how to implement it. Here are some ways in which being is different from ...

I'm listening to the radio this morning as callers talk about Martha Stuart's sentence. Caller number one says it was too strict a penalty. She should've been given a small fine. It was enough she lost what she did in the stock market. Caller number two says it wasn't nearly enough for what she did. She should be given a huge fine and more prison time. OPINIONS VARY. WHO'S RIGHT? HOW DO YOU DECIDE? Earlier I read an article about television censorship. The man in charge at one of the studios ...

I've counseled some truly beautiful people ' I mean physically beautiful. People whom anyone would term 'stunning.' I've also know some personally, and worked with some. Aside from being beautiful (which is a big 'aside), I'd say the 'other things' we look for in life (or that hunt us down) are what's called 'normally distributed' among the beautiful and the not-beautiful. In other words, there's about the same amount of happiness, money, good health, tragedy, addiction, good luck, intelligence ...

Have you ever made great progress with your goals but then found yourself losing focus and getting side-tracked? Do you ever achieve significant gains but then get distracted and 'fall off the wagon,' so to speak? As we all know, everyday life can get in the way of reaching our most important goals. My clients often ask me how to get back in the groove when they've veered off course. They often say things such as: 'I was doing so well. How can I get back on track and recoup all the advancements ...

Do you think that's true? You can EITHER have fun OR you can make money, but not both? I'm an EQ Coach. I help people increase their EQ, i.e., those factors that make us happy and successful that don't pertain to cognition and IQ. Many of my clients don't come to me specifically for EQ coaching. Let's just call it a 'value-added extra' in my coaching mix. Emotional intelligence means self-awareness; being in touch with your own feelings. Then managing your own emotions and those of others and ...

Avoiding Every Day Sales Goofs A client of mine once said to me, 'It's better to do the right thing badly than the wrong thing very well.' So it goes in sales. Try to do the right things, even if not very well, even if it hurts. You're probably not guilty of committing any of the following sales goofs, however, if you see yourself in any of these situations, you might want to rethink your sales process: · Calling at the wrong level. · It's all about you and your company, not your prospect. · ...

In the mid-1990's, Daniel Goleman introduced the term 'emotional intelligence' to the business world contending that our ability to manage our emotions and relationships with others was twice as important as our intelligence quotient (IQ) and experience in predicting our success as leaders. Ten years later, we see frequent reference to 'EI', and have many different assessments that will help us measure our own EQ ' emotional quotient. Most of you reading this ...

Are You Fighting the Wrong Enemy? By Monty J. Sharp, Certified Comprehensive Coach http://www.workteamcoaching.com I read many articles weekly written by respected authors who give their impression of what holds people back from achieving success in life, business, whatever. In the course of my home business coaching activities, I have often found that people head into the startup of their online home based businesses with a wildly unrealistic mindset. Many have been told that they can sign up for a few programs, build a website around them, add a bunch of banners and links onto their site, then sit back and watch the money roll in and never have to work again. Many home-based business owners go into business with the dream of creating more financial and personal freedom for themselves. Usually, quite the opposite result is produced. When running your own business, you often work harder and for longer hours than you would for an employer. Your perception of being a business owner and the reality of it are miles apart. This is why so many entrepreneurs end up feeling out of balance and out of control. If you are experiencing these same feelings, you ...
